A chiropractic manipulation is a therapeutic treatment where a licensed chiropractor uses their hands or special instruments to manipulate or adjust joints in the body. This treatment is also called spinal manipulation or joint manipulation. A chiropractic manipulation can help reduce perceived pain, correct movement patterns, and help the nervous system to function optimally. Chiropractic offers treatment that complements traditional medical care. Chiropractic and medicine are not exclusive in what they treat and are often mutually beneficial. Your chiropractor will use pressure to manipulate joints in your body to restore normal movement in the spine and other joints, reducing pain and discomfort caused by abnormal movement.
What does a chiropractor do?
Chiropractors treat aches, pains, creaks and strains. If you’ve got a problem that involves your neuromusculoskeletal system, that is any problem related to the joints, the muscles, the nerves or bones, a chiropractor can offer alternative methods of treatment that don’t involve prescribing medicine or having surgery.
Treatments Offered Include:
Manipulations
To gently move joints that have a restricted range of motion through their full range to decrease pain and restore range of motion.
Soft-tissue therapy
To relax tight muscles, relieve spasms and release tension in the connective tissue that surrounds each muscle (fascia).
Exercises and stretches
To restore and maintain joint stability and mobility.
Joint bracing/taping (Kinesio taping)
To support sprained joints or muscles as they heal.
Myofascial Dry Needling
Applied to trigger points in the muscles in order to flush out toxins and improve circulation in the muscles, releasing spasm and reducing pain.
